ASHRAE
The State of Michigan currently uses the ANSI/ASHRAE/ESNA Standard 90.1-1999 as the minimum criteria for commercial building energy efficiency. With respect to lighting, this standard addresses the areas of interior lighting power density, lighting controls, exterior lighting and additional lighting power allowances for specific applications. A GBA representative can assist you with selecting energy efficient lighting equipment that meets the design criteria. In addition, we can assist you with specifying and commissioning the control system to efficiently operate the lighting system.
Following are the key points from 90.1-1999 as they apply to lighting, refer to the 90.1-1999 document for details.
Lighting system automatic shut off:
- All buildings larger than 5000 ft2 are to be controlled with an automatic control device to shut off building lighting in all spaces.
